Introduction into Public Health Management in Thailand Lecture Key Points:

1. Largest portion of the countries are "developing" instead of "developed" across the globe

2. Life Expectancy and Child Mortality are important indicators on how well the public health system is working in the country.

The life expectancy for Thailand is 74 years (71 for males and 77 for females), the growth rate is only 0.65% (so the population is not increasing, which is great!) and national health insurance covers 99.46% of Thai residents! Can you imagine if that was true in the US?

3. Double burden on middle-income countries is increasing-- they both have to deal with infectious and non-infectious diseases. In contrast, high-income countries (including the US) deal with non-infectious chronic diseases such as diabetes, obesity, cancer, etc

ROO IV: Global Citizen Discussion

We basically had a conversation on how to make the best out of this study abroad experience and how to be open-minded to new experiences.
